Mother’s Day Events and Activities
This Sunday, May 14th is Mother’s Day, and while every mother loves to be showered with gifts, spending some quality time with your Mom without the distraction of gadgets, is more valuable than anything you can buy. So instead of opting for the usual flowers and chocolates, here are some local events and ways to share a memorable day with your one and only Mom.
Galleries & Museums
Toronto has a wide variety of world-class art exhibits, from specialty museums like the Bata Shoe Museum which offers an afternoon of activities that includes clog decorating or watching an expert shoemaker ply his craft. The AGO is exhibiting the work of noted artist Georgia O’Keeffe, known for her gorgeous paintings of enlarged flowers.
Instead of buying cut flowers that last only a short time, why not take your Mother to one of these glorious gardens. The Royal Botanical Gardens in Hamilton offers a Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea on May 13 and a Mother’s Day Brunch on May 14. Treat Mom to a meal just for her before touring the fragrant and colourful spring blooms. The Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens offers 99 acres of beautiful parkland. A horse and carriage tour of the gardens offers a unique and memorable way to take in the surroundings.
